The primary objective of this position is to accurately estimate costs for potential work.


  • Ensure that all safety requirements of the operations are met, and promote Foothills safety culture.
  • Monitor the Foothills FRONTLINE system for sub contractor performance.
  • Monitoring of the residential construction market and identifying suitable projects which Foothills would be interested in bidding.
  • Computer literate.
  • Strong understanding of residential concrete construction practices.
  • Manage projects by planning a particular construction job and overseeing its progress along the way.
  • Analyze blueprints and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.
  • Assess cost effectiveness of products, projects or services, tracking actual costs relative to bids as the project develops.
  • Consult with clients, vendors, personnel in other departments or construction foremen to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
  • Confer with engineers, architects, owners, contractors and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates.
  • Reviewing project documents, specific areas of work that demand attention due to the scope as compared to the overall requirements of the project.
  • Responsible for estimates to assure that the proper procedures are in place to allow a smooth bidding process.
  • Estimated budget for year by projecting the volume and quantity of work.
  • Responsible for transferring successfully estimated project to operations & job cost, updating for new types of work and maintain unit costs in the system.
  • Maintain in conjunction with all qualified subcontractors who adhere to our company standards. Determine the maximum amount of profit that can be obtained on each project during the bidding process by accurately tracking special pricing given to the customer.
  • Prepare and submit bids, estimates, and conceptual bids to our clients at the agreed upon timeframe. Hold weekly staff meetings to review current and future workload, project concerns, and any other issues.
  • Maintain and build working relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, architects, engineers and clients.
  • Preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates based on efficient construction practices, and using the most competitive and reliable subcontractors and suppliers
  • Project management of all contracts either awarded or assigned to the incumbent including attending site meetings, identifying and pricing work extra to the contract, coordinating and scheduling the project with the customer, invoicing, collections, and resolving any disputes involving the customer and any other third parties.


Educational Background:

A diploma or degree in Civil Engineering/Construction Management is preferred or equivalent experience. A combination of educational background along with skills / experience will be considered.     


A minimum of 3 years estimating experience in the residential concrete construction industry is required, project management and field supervisory experience a strong plus. 



Pre-employment medical including drug & alcohol testing and a criminal record check may be required.
