Overview

The D2I Development Specialist is responsible for the development and implementation of BI solutions that meet the business requirements for Data to Information (D2I) process stream.  The incumbent is  accountable for system configuration, documentation and testing in accordance with the Holcim Shared Services Change Management Process.  Additionally, the candidate will support the Manager Business Intelligence in the following areas:



  • Ensure schedule, functionality and quality are in line with the business needs and delivered at optimum cost
  • Ensure compliance with Group governance, methodologies and procedures
  • Providing technical support to regional and global initiatives and projects
  • Proactively offer solutions and enhancements which leverage best practices while managing enterprise expectations

Responsibilities

  • Estimating time and effort required to execute change requests and system enhancements
  • Convert design documents into functional specifications ensuring compliance to internal control procedures and security policy
  • Working closely with the Design Team to ensure the technical solution is aligned with the proposed design and architectural principles
  • Configuring and Implementing technical solutions for enhancements and projects approved by the Business Process Owners and the ECRB (Enterprise Change Review Board)
  • Coordinating activities with other teams, where required, including Basis, IT Security, Network and other Application Specialists
  • Documenting test cases and executing unit and integration testing of the build code/configuration
  • Completing all system documentation and knowledge transfer of the implemented solution to offshore Support Team
  • Supporting Business/Key Users in the User Acceptance Testing where required
  • Liaising with project managers as subject matter experts to ensure all projects are delivered on time, within budget and of the expected quality
  • Supporting the problem management process by analyzing trends for recurring issues and propose solutions
  • Working with Service Management to ensure timely update of solution portfolio in alignment to application lifecycle

  • Portfolio of 7-9 Applications
  • No direct reports
  • IT Projects:  Several ITSC projects and changes related to application implementation or enhancements.  Between 5-8 mid to large size projects per year.

  • Internal: Group IT Infrastructure Team; Global ITSC, Group Controlling, Regional Business Engagement Team; Regional ITSC Managers, Regional ITSC Architects, Regional ITSC Application Designers, Regional ITSC Application Specialists, Regional ITSC Security for Applications, Regional ITSC Project Managers, Regional ITSC Service Management
  • External: Consulting Companies; IT Service Providers, Offshore Partners

 

Qualifications

Level of education/qualifications normally required:

  • University degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related discipline
  • ITIL Service Management Certification is desired

 

Specific work experience:

  • Significant Experience (7+ years) in Information Technology
  • Minimum 5 years experience as a SAP BW Developer or Designer (Backend and Front-End) with at least 1 year experience with BW on HANA

 

Technical / functional skills:

  • Strong knowledge of the relationship between SAP ECC, SAP BW, SAP BO and SAP Portal
  • Highly Experienced with BI Planning Tools (BI-IP, BI-BPS, BO-BPC)
  • Experience with BI tools (SAP BW, SAP BO Web Intelligence and Design Studio)
  • Proficient understanding of Qlikview Reporting Tool
  • Demonstrated understanding of relational data model and logic
  • Demonstrated understanding and working experience with scripting languages (i.e.: VBScript, Jscript)
  • Demonstrated understanding of SAP Functional streams (MM, PP, PM, PS. FI, CO, SD)
  • Demonstrated understanding of IT Service Management procedures and IT Quality and Testing processes
  • Demonstrated Experience in debugging simple ABAP programs independently to identify and resolve technical issues
  • Able to evaluate project complexity, constraints, risks and dependencies and effectively relay suitable information to key stakeholders
