Overview

Reporting to the Vice President of Asphalt & Construction for Western Canada, this position is   critical in growing and expanding the concrete paving business in Western Canada. The Concrete Paving Manager is responsible for maximizing sales of concrete paving by creating new market opportunities for Lafarge from owners of public and private infrastructure.  Additionally, he or she will work with influencers of the concrete buying process (i.e. architects and engineers) to provide educational opportunities for our advanced paving solutions.

Responsibilities

Safety Leadership:

  • Lead the business with the utmost focus on health & safety
  • Proactively implement Lafarge best practices, engage with all levels of employees in this regard and ensure that personnel are actively seeking out real time solutions to identified risks
  • Provide visible and felt health & safety leadership

Business Development:

  • Develop concrete paving market in Western Canada.
  • Develop long-term relationships with public/private clients

Specific Accountabilities:

  • Strategy - Research, network, and acquire long-term business partners. Lead the efforts to launch concrete paving in each of the local markets in Western Canada.  Work collaboratively with all concerned to create and implement strategic plans to generate sustained business opportunities.
  • Customer Orientation:Develop a thorough understanding of the benefits to customers and sub-trades provided by our premium concrete paving product compared to traditional offerings.
  • Communication: Communicate results with stakeholders by written reports, visual presentations or verbal summaries.  Establish strong ties with the specifier community in the marketplace.
  • Industry involvement: Participate in industry associations that enhance the company’s reputation and business prospects.
  • Become an integral component of the company’s leadership team.

Relationship with Other Jobs:

  • Reports to the VP/GM of Asphalt and Construction
  • Interacts with Construction General Managers across Western Canada
  • Interacts with Pave Performance team
  • Works closely with Marketing and Commercial Performance teams

Qualifications

Education & Work Experience:

  • Professional Engineer with a degree from an accredited university
  • 10-20 years of experience in construction project management
  • Strong personality with presence, poise and confidence
  • Capable of strong analytical thinking to understand detailed market research
  • Above average drive and intensity to champion and model dynamic change in our markets and key accounts
  • Very strong organizational skills to champion the execution and implementation of large scale strategies across entire Regions

 Knowledge & Skills:

  • Excellent customer service skills – dedicated to meeting the expectations of internal and external customers
  • Must be flexible and balance shifting priorities to meet deadlines
  • Proven experience in growing the construction business
