Overview

Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for the successful operation of the Dawson Road and Oak Bluff concrete plant facilities located in Winnipeg and Oak Bluff, Manitoba. You will also aid in the maintenance and operation of our rural and portable concrete plants.

Responsibilities

  • Managing the day-to-day operations, and coordination with Operations Manager.
  • Reporting and administrative function to the Operations Manager and various team members.
  • Hiring, development and training of plant operations & mixer drivers human resources.
  • Assist the customer in assessing their needs and complimenting with Lafarge products and services.
  • Identification of potential opportunities in product development.
  • Assist in development of best practices of emerging products and services.
  • Monitor and evaluate competitor activities.
  • Establish and maintain strong customer relations.
  • Purchasing activities.
  • Ensure a safe work place.
  • Ensure excellent product quality and customer service.
  • Ensure excellent relations with employees.
  • Responsible for plant maintenance and scheduling at various locations
  • Responsible for repairs and contractor relationships in order to continuously supply our customers

 

 Results/Accountabilities:

  • Resolution of employee and customer concerns and disputes.
  • Analysis and improvement of work processes.
  • Utilization of Command Concrete, Command Batch, and SAP functions
  • Ensure customer satisfaction with excellent product and service quality.
  • Monitor and approve employee timesheets and help manage hours based on seasonal volumes
  • Work with Quality Control in product development.
  • Aid in supervision and oversee production personnel.

 

 

 Relationships with Others Jobs:

 

  • Collaborates with the Central Dispatch for efficient operation and plant demands.
  • Works with the IT manager within the region to ensure service levels are maintained at a high level and implementations/upgrades are quickly and successfully completed.
  • Works with Quality Control Personnel to ensure Operations is meeting customer need and optimization of mix design constituents.
  • Works with Customers to ensure efficient delivery of RMX concrete to the jobsite. In addition, work with customers to provide innovative solutions to site issues.

Qualifications

Education and Work Experience:

  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Civil Engineering/Technology with a C.E.T. or P.Eng.
  • Three (3) years of ready-mix or related construction industry experience.

 

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Good leadership and motivational skills.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Basic understanding of plants, trucks and equipment.
  • Must have basic computer literacy.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Must have valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.

 

 

Dimensions:

  • Lafarge Ready-Mix (including Northland Ready Mix and Perimeter Concrete Operations) produces and delivers 200,000 m3 annually
  • Operates a fleet of 70+ trucks and drivers, and 6 concrete plants
