    Lafarge is seeking a candidate to work within the quality control team to provide timely and accurate process control information, ensure that all testing equipment is operating properly, perform pre-pour and post-pour checks, perform concrete testing and certify that completed products meet specifications. Daily adherence to Plant Prequalification Program (PPP),
    Canadian Precast / Prestressed Concrete Institute (CPCI) and Canadian Standards Association (CSA) standards is required, as well as ensuring all requirements are met to maintain certification to these standards. The successful candidate will report to the Quality Control Supervisor and work closely with other Quality Control (QC) Technicians and production crews.


    • Implement the QC program (inspections, tests, completion of forms, etc.)
    • Perform pre-pour inspections and post-pour inspections
    • Perform all types of concrete tests as required
    • Run and maintain testing equipment
    • Perform equipment calibrations as required
    • Maintain records of mill certificates and testing documentation
    • Provide technical support to production staff
    • Advise production staff if testing shows any deficiencies and develop action plans as required
    • Fill out all paperwork manually and on computer spreadsheets
    • Ensure all operations and paperwork are in compliance with PPP, CPCI, CSA


    Knowledge and Skills:

    • Results oriented
    • Strong communication skills
    • Strong product and production knowledge
    • Able to interpret drawings
    • Good communication skills, both verbal and written
    • Have a basic understanding of the chemistry of concrete and its ingredients
    • Good mechanical aptitude


    • 2 years experience working in quality control or a manufacturing / construction field
    • Experience working in the concrete industry is preferred
    • ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician Grade 1 certification (certification must be obtained within one year of start date)
    • PCI Level I and II certification (certification must be obtained within one year of start date)
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail
    • Maintains composure in dealing with difficult situations
    • Able to sit, stand and walk for extended periods of time
    • Able to lift up to 50 pounds
    • Able to climb ladders, scaffolding and stockpiles
    • Able to work in an industrial environment that may include dust, heat, loud noise, etc.
    • Able to work effectively as part of a team
    • Able to use Microsoft Word and Excel


    Pre-employment medical including drug & alcohol testing and a criminal record check may be required.
