Effective management of Product Quality Control and Quality Processes to ensure product performance, product cost management, effective reserve utilization and customer satisfaction.




  • Implementation of Lafarge Safety Policies, and Compliance with Government Legislation
  • Lead the implementation of  Job Hazard Analyses for QC Tasks, Develop and Lead the Implementation of Hazard Reduction Plans
  • Execution and implementation of Lab/QC Safety Improvement Plans
  • Coordinate relevant Safety Training for all Technicians supervised


Concrete Mix Management and Performance:

  • Development, Management and Optimization of Lafarge Standard and VAP Mix Designs, including Agilia, Agilia Screed, Artevia, Chronolia and Hydromedia, in compliance with relevant codes, standards and specifications
  • Work with plant operations to ensure accurate batching and quality using tools such as batch accuracy reports, Standard Deviation and Coefficient of Variation
  • RMX KPI - investigates variances from Plan and establishes corrective actions as required. Prepare Mix Cost Evolution monthly reports
  • Manage and lead Quality incident Investigation process, troubleshooting and corrective actions.
  • Support and implement strategies for long product utilization, blended sand products, Aggneo and other alternative raw material at RMIX plants.


Quality management & certifications:


  • Support the Preparation and submission of LEED documentation
  • Manage Daily Activities of Technical Staff (Quality Technicians) – Monitoring of Raw Materials and Consistency, Strategic Sampling Plans, Plant and Site Based Testing Activities, Product Support, Product Troubleshooting
  • Participate in or Lead Quality Audits, including the development and implementation of Action Plans for Quality Improvement
  • Lead plants certifications preparation and audits
  • Prepare Statistical Analyses of Plant Operation Performance, and Lead Investigative Efforts to Identify Root Causes and Implement Corrective Actions
  • Support work with Product Management and Technical Performance teams for  SAP Item Uploads, including the Required GL and Sales Category Codes for Pricing, Production/Shipping and BI/KPI Reporting


Technical support and contract review:

  • Support Product Management team to review Specifications; Recommendation of Appropriate Alternatives products Mix Designs and Proposal of VAP Alternatives in Support of Marketing/Sales Initiatives, and in compliance with relevant codes, standards and specifications
  • Support Product Management team for preparation and submission of Mix Design Documentation requested by Customers in Accordance with Lafarge Policy
  • Provide Customer Support – Field Sales Support and Quality Incident Investigation and Resolution as required
  • Liaise with customers to ensure acceptable product performance, and acquire knowledge for potential innovation and product improvement
  • Promote Lafarge Innovative Products to the Specifying Community. Build relationships with Municipal representatives and customer to drive value for the customer and Lafarge.
  • Participate and/or Deliver Technical training to Technicians, Operations to understand the value of Lafarge RMIX, leverages technical expertise across the Market Area to drive value for our customers and Lafarge
  • Support product development, utilizing new and or innovative products and project specification review before the quoting or bidding process.


Human Resources:


  • Hire, train, evaluate and develop QC Technicians for Sites of Responsibility
  • Coach and mentor direct reports in accordance with Lafarge Performance Evaluation system


Financial Accountability:


  • Manage QC team and local lab Budgets and Financial Reviews as required
  • Minimize potential Cost of Quality Claims
  • Ensure efficient utilization of resources provided, and optimize costs where practical and possible


Relationships with Other Jobs:

Liaison with Operational and Sales Staff

  • Communication of product performance and identification of improvement opportunities
  • Implement and Support yearly quality plan, to include material optimization targets, product development and long term product plans
  • Maximize utilization of Long and alternative Aggregate Products in RMIX
  • Root Cause Analysis and Reporting of Product Quality Incidents
  • Operational Batching Consistency
  • Target vs. Actual reviews
  • Moisture probe usage and Moisture Compensation
  • VAP product consulting, Mix Design
  • Troubleshooting/Customer Service


Liaison with Regional and Market Area QA

  • Quality Safety Initiatives

  • Minimum 2 year College Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology - C.Tech. or C.E.T. Designation
  • University Degree in Engineering - eligibility for P.Eng. Designation
