    Lafarge is recruiting a summer Co-op with Automation for our Cement Plant located in Exshaw, Alberta.


    The primary objective of the Automation Co-op student is to assist in the implementation of the Technical Information System. Also, ensures accurate and timely completion of specific tasks. This position reports to the Senior Automation Specialist/Process Engineer, and works in coordination with the Electrical/Process team.


    • 3rd year or final year Electrical Engineering / Engineering Technologist program Student.


    Automation Credentials

    • Exposure to SCADA systems.  iFIX platform.
    • Ability to program in MS Excel VBA and Access.
    • Familiar with ISA instruments symbols.
    • Strong programming skills (Visual Studio & Visual Studio.NET)
    • Industrial Networking knowledge, preference given to Industrial Ethernet Networking.
    • Exposure to read and interpret P&ID diagrams
    • AutoCAD – ability to produce and maintain electrical drawings.


    Electrical Credentials

    • Basic practical electrical knowledge (motor starters, contactors, fuses, overloads, field push buttons, disconnects, transformers, breakers etc).
    • Basic understanding of the CEC.
    • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics.
    • AutoCAD – ability to produce and maintain electrical drawings.


    Other Credentials/Assets

    • Strong safety record.  Ability to lead by example.
    • Strong comprehension skills.
    • Strong IT skills
