This will be a 6-12 month contract role as an accounting analyst.


Cost Accounting

  • Provide accurate, timely, and relevant production cost information to business unit stakeholders
  • Develop and provide inventory reporting and analysis including key reconciliation of purchased and produced cost variances
  • Provide financial analysis and reconciliation of production cost components as required
  • Work with Senior Accounting Specialist to develop standardized, value added inventory and cost reporting
  • Develop a working knowledge of the cementitious, aggregates, and concrete manufacturing processes
  • Utilize SAP to assist in gathering and analyzing data as well as reporting results
  • Support the financial planning, budgeting and forecasting processes. Execute key components of planning process according to defined timelines
  • Maintain key components of Inventory Valuation Master data
  • Interface with plant controllers and manufacturing personnel to ensure synchronization of Key Production Master data related to Inventory Valuation
  • Execute annual and interim standard costing activities using established tools and inventory valuation techniques
  • Working with Business Unit Controllers to ensure timely processing of physical inventory adjustments
  • Execute the required Month End Processing steps according to established closing calendar deadlines
  • Key Account reconciliation activities including, change in inventory sub-schedules and freight-in inventory analysis
  • Production and maintenance of standard and statistical reporting packages
  • Participate in cross-process work teams to articulate the financial impact of key integration issues (accrual processing, inter-company stock purchases)
  • Provide guidance to Junior Accountants on appropriate treatment of accounting entries, reconciliation issues and processing deadlines
  • Develop a detailed understanding of managerial accounting rules (HARP) associated with Manufacturing Cost Accounting. Ensure compliance with these accounting principles and Shared Service Centre standards


Continuous Process Improvements

  • Identify and suggest process and system enhancements
  • Assist the Manufacturing Accounting Senior Specialist in continuously monitoring Key Performance Indicators and Service Level Agreements
  • Perform at a level that assists in attaining overall and team-level performance measures and goals
  • Interface with all other Shared Service teams to investigate and resolve issues
  • Coordinate with other Shared Service teams to deliver seamless service to customers
  • Ensure compliance with all Health and Safety policies and initiatives outlined in the Health and Safety manual


Educational Criteria

  • 4 year undergraduate degree in Accounting or related field preferred

Other Related Experiences Required or Preferred

  • Minimum of 2 to 4 years industrial manufacturing experience, in accounting or finance, including cost accounting, process cost control, variance analysis, budget development and management reporting
  • CPA certification or equivalent work experience a plus
  • Shared Financial Service experience an asset
  • Bilingual (English and French) written and oral preferred
  • Working knowledge and use of office productivity tools, particularly Excel (MS Office, Lotus Notes, etc.)
  • Experience with SAP or other ERP Accounting system
