    Lafarge Leadership Development Program (LLDP)

     

    The Lafarge Leadership Development Program offers qualified individuals an opportunity to work through developmental roles over a term of 18-24 months. The positions are designed to maximize your personal and professional learning and development. Each LLDP path is different, and custom designed for you!

     

    Currently, we are looking for recent graduates who seek the challenge of a hands-on work environment that will provide industry knowledge and skills to drive your career path forward. We are looking for individuals who are interested in the areas of development, leadership and management of operational functions and performance throughout Eastern Canada.

     

    To be considered for an LLDP role, qualified candidates must have a College/University degree, be willing to relocate within eastern Canada, be analytical, entrepreneurial and have highly developed communication skills. All of this must be coupled with a strong drive to gain business knowledge and a willingness to experience a variety of positions within the organization. 

     

    Responsibilities

    Objective:

     

    Effective management of Product Quality Control, Technical Performance and Quality Processes to ensure product performance, product cost management and customer satisfaction. Develop and maintain technical expertise & knowledge on products within the organization.

     

     

    Key Responsibilities:

     

    Safety:

    • Implementation of Lafarge Safety Policies, and Compliance with Government Legislation
    • Training and Orientation of all Direct and Departmental Staff with a specific focus on behaviors and culture
    • Completion of Job Hazard Analyses for QC Job Functions
    • Development and Implementation of Safety Improvement Plans
    • Execution and implementation of Lab/QC Safety Improvement Plans

     

     

     

    Concrete and Aggregates Product Performance & Optimization:

    • Participate in process to develop annual production target guidelines to maximize production efficiency and reduce waste production (long product).
    • Implementation of standard mix design methodology and management system in compliance with relevant codes, standards and specifications.
    • Manage the QC database (EONE) Item Uploads, including the Required GL and Sales Category Codes for Pricing, Production/Shipping and BI/KPI Reporting
    • Develop and standardize tools, processes and reporting for accurate batching and quality.
    • Prepare Statistical Analyses of Plant Operation Performance, and support Investigative Efforts to Identify Root Causes and Implement Corrective Actions
    • Monitor, report and communicate RMX and Aggregates KPI performance with key stakeholders as required – investigate variances from plan and establish corrective actions as required
    • Support synergies between aggregate and concretefor long product utilization, blended sand products, Aggneo etc for use at RMX plants.
    • Support the process to Identify and develop optimization and performance testing programs to direct to the regional lab in support of Area QC Managers.
    • Support and develop aggregate and cement utilization strategies in RMX.

     

    Contract Review:

    • Review contracts in conjunction with QC managers, Product manager and sales managers
    • Review of Project Specifications; in direct contact with the local QC and sales teams: recommendation of Appropriate Mix Designs, Proposal of VAP Alternatives and Appropriate Aggregate products in Support of Marketing/Sales Initiatives
    • Prepare and submit Mix Letters and Documentation requested by Customers in Accordance with Lafarge Policy
    • Support technical programs at the Lab (testing programs, engineering studies) supporting projects (incl. before the quoting and bidding process).

     

    Technical Support:

    • Develop, Standardize and Implement Quality Plans and Processes
    • Perform Quality Audits, Develop Action Plans for Quality Improvement and Monitor Progress of Implementation
    • Provide Expert Customer Support – Specification activities with VAP rep., field Sales Support and Quality Incident Investigation and Resolution.
    • Identify VAP opportunities, potential innovation and product improvement for customers and job sites.
    • Develop Quality and product best practices for QC, sales and operations.
    • Support programs with field and regional lab to Benchmark Lafarge material performance vs. competitors to effectively market our products.

     

    Financial Accountability:

    • Participate to the preparation of the annual budget and monthly review process
    • Implement and track quality incidents and cost of poor quality material 

     

     

    Relationships with Other Jobs: Liaison with Operational, Sales and VAP Staff

    • Support Product Performance Goals and Objectives ensuring alignment across functions
    • Support yearly quality plan, to include material optimization targets, product development and long term product plans
    • Support strategies to maximize utilization of Long and alternative Aggregate Products in RMX
    • Root Cause Analysis and Reporting of Product Quality Incidents
    • Support Mining Plans, and strategies for commercial and operation plans

     

    Dimensions:

    • Up to 30% travel within region (ACM South E.Can)

    Qualifications

    You must be a recent university or college graduate within the last 2 years OR you will be completing your degree/diploma May 2018.

     

    • University Degree in Engineering preferred with 2 years related experience, P. Eng.
    • Minimum 3 year College Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology with 5 years of related experience, CET Designation
    • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
    • Excellent people management skills; ability to develop effective internal and external relations
    • Disciplined and process-oriented
    • Strong computer skills and ability to quickly learn and use new software
    • Strong communication skills, both oral and written
    • Self-motivated
