    Overview

    Reporting to the General Manager of FBA this role will manage all depot facilities and operations in the GTA. This role is responsible to ensure top performance on safety, environmental, production, and shipping activities. The responsibilities also include the development, leadership and management of all site employees.  The Depot Manager will ensure alignment with all functional groups including: safety, environment, land, manufacturing and supply chain to drive a consistent process and standard approach. The manager is responsible to engage and participate with our neighbours and local communities supporting to ensure we are viewed as a valued member of the industry and local community.

    Responsibilities

    Safety:

    • Ensures that equipment and processes at all depots meet or exceed all government and Lafarge guidelines.  
    • Promote safety culture through engagement with employees and JHSC.
    • Pursues a culture of safety that is best in class with an objective of “zero” safety incidents.
    • Develop, administer and promote safety policies, processes and review procedures to ensure that site meets or exceeds all Lafarge and Regulatory guidelines.  

    Customer Focus:

    • Provides customer focus for the Depot team. 
    • Reinforces the needs of the customers.
    • Continuously develops offerings to differentiate Lafarge as the supplier of choice. 

    Environment:

    • Establishes the environment as a priority at the site. 
    • Ensures regulations are met or exceeded by following Lafarge best practices.

    Growth Strategy:

    • In concert with the FBA Manager develops a short, medium and long term growth depot strategy for Lafarge in the GTA, complete with SMART objectives.
    • Understands both market activity and competitor activity to be used in developing objectives.


    Operations Planning:

    • Ensures the proper processes and tools are utilized to plan operational activities.
    • Examples include site plans maintenance programs (i.e. preventative maintenance, winter shutdown), capital planning, and budgeting & forecasting.
    • Completes pre-plant inspections and sub-contractor site orientation.

    Marketing:

    • Develops and ensures that a depot image guideline exists across the Central footprint.
    • The guideline is to promote a professional image in a standard and consistent manner for our operations. 
    • Responsible for setting, communicating and managing the annual Depot transfer pricing.

    Financials:

    • Responsible for monthly financial performance of the all Central depots (EBITS). 
    • Responsible for monthly financial forecast for depots. 
    • Expected to manage costs, revenue, inventory and working capital to drive profitability.

    Procurement:

    • Assists with the purchase process of salt, specialty stone, aggregate and operational tools and equipment.

    Human Resources:

    • Develops and motivates staff – Selects, hires, trains and terminates as required.

    Land Management:

    • Ensure that site meets or exceeds all Lafarge and regulatory guidelines.
    • Develop, implement and manage a sustainable operation plan to ensure depot optimization, while managing community impact.

    Recycled Concrete:

    • Establish a management program for the production of recycled concrete and the sourcing and receiving of inbound concrete rubble.
    • Oversee and manage 3rd party recycled concrete crushing.

    Depot Inventory Management:

    • Using the depot inventory best practices ensure accurate monthly depot inventories – physical count versus SAP system inventory.

     

    Relationships with Others Jobs: 

    • Reports to the General Manager of Franceshini.
    • This position requires liaison with Customer Service and Logistics Manager, Territory Managers, ISR’s, Land Management team, Controller, Area Accountant and Commercial Manager.

     

    Specific Accountabilities:

    • Safety: Par9 Framework, Near Miss Process and Hazards Indentified process, Utilization of ICare, VPC’s, FA’s, MI’s, LTI Incident Reporting & Investigation, Health & Safety Improvement Plan & Actions, TFIR, Safety Audits, scorecards, Implementing Lafarge Standards, Leadership & Safety Engagement (Safety Moments,) Compliance with the law. Joint Heath and Safety Monthly Inspection Items.
    • Land, Environment & Public Affairs: Environmental Compliance, Audits and scorecards.
    • Labour: Payroll signoff, People development and performance management.
    • Production: Production KPI’s, Maintenance and Mobile equipment management and tracking (maintenance module), M/E report. Coordinate Sub-Contractor Activities.
    • 3rd Party Load & Weigh Contracts/service agreements
    • Responsible for EBIT for the following: Stouffville, Commissioner, Cawthra, Barrie, Newmarket, Brougham, Mosport, Newkirk, AM Scarborough

     

    Dimensions:

    • 800K to 1M tonnes of aggregate sales
    • 300 - 400K tonnes of recycled concrete production
    • $1M salt sales
    • 5 direct reports – (2 Salary, 3 Hourly)

    Qualifications

    Education & Work Experience:

    • An undergraduate degree in business, marketing, or engineering

     

    Knowledge & Skills:

     

    • A minimum of 7 years relevant experience, not necessarily in the aggregates or construction industry
    • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
