    Overview

    The Counter Sales & Weighmaster position is responsible for proactive selling to retail, cash and other customer segments as well as the administration of scale ticketing, sales systems and processes.  This position works closely with ISR’s, TM’s, Market Analyst, Plant Managers, Materials Performance (Quality), Dispatch/Order Takers and Credit & Collections staff.  The Cawthra Counter Sales & Weighmaster position is also responsible for the scale operations at the site. They may be required to provide short term cover of dispatch, inside sales, plant clerk and yard duties at the manager’s discretion.

    Responsibilities

    Safety:

    • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving, and adhering to safety policies in all work environments and areas.

     

    Proactive Selling:

    • Have accountability for defined customer segments with detailed budgets and objectives.
    • They will sell to existing customers and develop new customers through understanding their product and business requirements to translate the current and unmet needs of customers into sales opportunities. 

     

    Sales Administration:

    • Small project quotation
    • Systematic pricing (Price lists / item pricing),
    • Customer communications (annual price letters, new customer welcome, holiday greetings, hours of operation),
    • General inquiries from customers (ie. products, sources, pricing, end-use/application assistance),
    • Marketing & Advertising opportunities for

     

    TM/ISR Support: Work closely with ISRs and TMs by assisting with the following:

    • Customer inquiries and complaint resolution,
    • Quote entry and transmission to customers,
    • Pro-Active selling to specific customer segments,
    • Review of sales transactions for accuracy and as required, error resolution,

     

    Scale Operations: Ensure the scales are adequately operated. This may require:

    • Directing inbound trucks and rubble haulers
    • Training and monitoring other scale personnel on proper procedures
    • Ticketing trucks when leaving site as necessary
    • Driver communication: compliance to Safe Trucking Program, delivering key logistics messages, receive and report feedback
    • Assisting other scale personnel as required or filling in for vacations as necessary.
    • Managing cash and closing paperwork

     

    Relationships with Others Jobs:

    • Work closely with Inside Sales, After Sales Support, Order Taking/Dispatch, Transportation Coordinator, Marketing Analyst, TM’s, Plant Managers/Supervisors, Materials Performance Manager, and Credit & Collections.

    Qualifications

    Education and Work Experience

    • Undergraduate Degree or College Diploma in a related field (ie. Business, Engineering Technology, etc.) or
    • 2 or more years of experience working in construction materials or a related industry
