    Overview

    The position’s prime objective is to facilitate the accounting structure for the Saskatoon region product lines.  The Job Cost Accountant reports directly to the Construction Operations Manager, but also acts as a resource for the Operations Analyst and General Manager.

    Responsibilities

    Health, Safety and Environment

    • Demonstrates a commitment to a safe work environment. Understands the safety objectives of the organization and supports these efforts in a visible manner.
    • Maintains a working knowledge of safety policies and regulations to ensure duties of self and others are performed in a safe manner.

     

    Key Responsibilities

     

    • Administering and control of project accounting on a continual basis.
    • Produce accurate and timely reports.
    • Works with field staff to ensure all expenses and revenue items have been accounted for in each job
    • Post various accounting transactions (generating and receiving PO’s, reviewing and posting payroll, setc)
    • Estimated versus Actual Cost analysis, by job basis.
    • Entry of actual quantities by work item.
    • Reconcile Project Accounting to General Ledger, adjust when necessary.
    • General Ledger queries/Variance analysis.
    • Preparation of monthly revenue and cost accruals.
    • Maintain job numbers listed in project accounting module.
    • Enter various monthly and adjusting journals as required.
    • Equipment revenue versus cost analysis, report on variances.
    • Other duties as assigned

    Qualifications

    Education:

    • Post secondary Certificate or Diploma in Finance, Accounting

     

    Knowledge and experience:

     

    • Job costing experience is a strong asset
    • Construction industry experience a strong asset
    • Advanced Microsoft Office, Word, Excel
    • Ability to learn new systems quickly
    • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
    • Ability to work in a fast paced environment
    • Proven self-starter.
    • Proven ability to work in a team environment.
    • People management skills, ability to develop and maintain working relationships.
    • Awareness of environment / safety / quality / transport rules and regulations.
    • Strong knowledge of material handling processes and equipment.
