    Overview

    The Mosport Plant Manager (PM) is responsible for the leadership and management of the operational functions and performance at their respective sites.  The primary focus of this role is leveraging operational excellence by optimizing available reserves and achieving the highest productivity at the lowest cost of production.

     

    The PM will have a strong understanding of the Lafarge commitment to Health and Safety, as well as the core values expected in all Lafarge management. The Manager will ensure alignment with all functional groups such as Environment, Land, Manufacturing and Safety, in order to drive communication and consistency.  The PM will work with their team to ensure Lafarge is viewed as a valued member of the industry and local communities in which it operates.

    Responsibilities

    Safety Culture:

    • Promote safety culture through engagement with employees, JHSC and subcontractors with an objective of “zero” safety incidents.
    • Administer, promote and communicate safety policies, processes and procedures to maintain relevance while ensuring the site meets or exceeds all Lafarge and Regulatory guidelines.
    • Ownership of the implementation and management of all local and regional safety initiatives, providing feedback as necessary.

     

    Human Resources:

    • Administer/manage local collective and hourly working agreements with site employees.
    • Directly responsible for the individual development and motivation of all personnel to promote customer focus, operational efficiency and skill/training development.

     

    Production Management:

    • Develop, implement and track maintenance, production and shipping processes and strategies to achieve targeted Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s).
    • Employ daily communication process with Local Distribution, Supply Chain and Quality to drive group efficiencies, manage inventories and production performance.

     

    Financial Management:

    • Plan, drive and track financial performance with local/regional tools, develop, implement and manage annual repair budgets, perform financial analysis to identify cost reduction opportunities.
    • Forecast profitability and production to optimize yield; support supply chain with balancing inventory and sales needs to manage and minimize working capital impact.

     

     

    Customer Focus:

    • Perform monthly inventory reconciliation to assist Distribution in balancing area inventory levels to meet local demand.
    • Schedule and plan production to maximize available shipping faces and minimize Truck Turnaround Time (TTT), while working with local Quality team to optimize product assurance.

     

    Land Management:

    • Ensure that site meets or exceeds all Lafarge and Regulatory guidelines.
    • Work with the Land department in the development, implementation and management of a sustainable mining plan with detailed stripping, production phasing and rehabilitation forecasts to ensure reserve optimization, while managing community impact.

     

    Environmental Management:

    • Ensure that site meets or exceeds all Lafarge and Regulatory guidelines.
    • Work with Environmental Managers to implement and manage operational standards to manage activities and mitigate our environmental impact.

     

    Community Relations:

    • Develop and maintain effective relationships within the community by participating in local activities/events and through partnerships with local associations and the business community.

    Qualifications

    Education/Work Experience:

    • College/University Degree in Engineering or Business or the equivalent of education and experience.
    • A minimum of five years Supervisory/Managerial experience working in a similar environment

     

    Knowledge & Skills:

    • Commitment and proven leadership to Health and Safety Principles
    • Understanding of general accounting principles
    • Excellent organizational and planning skills
    • Proficiency with various computer applications
    • Knowledge of the aggregate industry is preferred
    • Ability to make fast reasoned decisions in a multi-faceted environment.

     

    Structure:

    • Reports to Area Operations Manager, Central Aggregates
    • Works closely with community leaders
    • Works closely with various functional groups including Supply Chain, Land, Environment, Labour Relations/HR, Quality Control, Territory Managers, Health & Safety

     

    Specific Accountabilities:

    • Safety: Hazard Identified, VPC’s, Near Misses, MVA’s, FA’s, MI’s, LTI’s,
    • HR: Kronos Signoff, People Development and Management, Union Agreements
    • Production: Subcontractor Management, Daily production reporting, M/E report
    • Financial: P2P – PO approval, EBIT review, budget compliance
    • Customer Focus: Shipping & Quality KPI’s
    • Land: CAR’s
    • Environment: Environmental Audits
