    Overview

    The primary objective of this position is to ensure that routine goods & services requisitioned by Plant and users are procured in a timely fashion to meet the daily operating requirements of the Richmond Plant.  The incumbent must also ensure that all transactions regarding stores spare part inventory items are processed correctly in accordance with established procedures to ensure all parts are maintained at or above established minimum levels.

     

    In addition, the incumbent is also responsible for the daily supervision of the Stores department.

    Responsibilities

    NATURE AND SCOPE

     

    The incumbent transfers approved requisitions to Purchase Orders, for routine goods and services and places the orders with the established vendor base.  For items that are significant, critical, and/or non-routine, the incumbent will consult and, in some cases, leave such transactions with the Plant Sourcing Specialist for completion.  Items on the requisition report must be processed on a timely basis.

     

    With regards to supervising the Stores, the incumbent must ensure that all procedures relating to all incoming and outgoing freight are performed in a safe & timely fashion.  The Warehouse Supervisor must also ensure that all end users with access to the Stores are properly trained to correctly issue & return parts.

     

    The incumbent has responsibility to ensure that the actual quantity, condition and location for all stock & non-stock parts described in the spare parts inventory is consistent with the file information contained within Maximo.  The incumbent coordinates the cycle count of all stock and non-stock parts and ensures it is performed in accordance to established procedures.

     

    The incumbent must have a developed understanding of purchasing & inventory management principles and a very thorough working knowledge of Maximo and other tools used at the Richmond Plant.  The Warehouse Supervisor must also have an understanding of the Plant coding structure in order to process error-free transactions with proper cost allocation.

     

    Another requirement of the position is the capability to be very well organized, and to manage time and priorities in a way that results in minimal backlog, even during vacation periods of the Plant Sourcing Specialist..

     

     

    SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES

     

    1.    Initiate purchasing action for spare parts that fall below the established minimum level and all approved purchase requisitions for routine goods and services using Maximo reports & features.

     

    1. Model and promote a positive attitude and create a working environment, which motivates employees to perform their jobs safely and to the best of their capability in the spirit of teamwork.

     

    1. Provide daily supervision to the hourly stores personnel to ensure all work processes relating to incoming & outgoing freight, material receipt, issues, both debit & credit, and the cycle counting are performed in a very safe, yet timely & efficient manner at all times.

     

    1. Ensure compliance with safety practices and procedures and availability of safety equipment.

     

    1. Report on accidents/incidents assuring follow up. Conduct monthly safety meetings &  inspections and take corrective action as required.

     

    1. Assign and direct jobs to Storekeeper(s) taking into account knowledge, qualification, classification and seniority as applicable.

     

    1. Assign overtime taking into account call-out procedures, O/T equalization, job continuation, etc., as may be applicable and arrange for overtime meals when required.

     

    1. Ensure motivation of employees through proper delegation of jobs, participation, recognition, follow up of suggestions, and fair and equitable treatment of all employees within his/her group.

     

    1. Initiate action and/or act as a resource to the Department Head in the areas of employee performance, absenteeism, grievance and disciplinary action.

     

    1. Qualify through effective training all end users that require access to the Stores spare parts inventory so they may issue and return parts in accordance to established procedures. This includes taking appropriate corrective measures, coordinated with the users supervisor, where non-conformance is demonstrated.

     

    1. Communicate the status of requisitions, purchase orders and expediting information to the end users in the Plant on a regular basis.

     

    1. Manage the coverall inventory.

     

    1. Maintain a close working relationship with the Plant's vendor base and carriers in an ethical manner at all times.

     

    1. Provide relief for the Plant Sourcing Specialist when required.

     

    1. Assist in the month-end accrual process, to ensure all outstanding liabilities are accounted for as per company accounting standards (Manage and control the corporate credit card expenses, AVS and RNV exceptions).

     

    1. Effectively manage suspense account for the plant.

     

    1. Administer the consumable and safety gear vending machines, and the vendor portafolio.

     

    1. Maintain the consumables for the pant.

     

    1. Interface with the Item Master Group entering new parts.

     

    1. Implement the working capital reduction plan and the associated reports.

     

    1. Manage plant obsolence program.

     

    1. Lead and/or participate in internal audits.

    Qualifications

    • Inventory Management training preferred.
    • Minimum of 2 years industrial purchasing experience
    • Minimum of 2 years supervisory experience in a unionized workplace
    • Experience in all aspects of general inventory management
    • Experience or exposure to Maintenance Repair Operation (MRO) Purchasing environment
    • Knowledge of computerized maintenance management systems (Maximo) an asset
    • Computer literate (MS Programs)
    • Able to work in an industrial setting

     

    In addition:

    The incumbent must have good knowledge of the cement manufacturing process, good troubleshooting abilities, communication skills, ability to manage stress, and an ability to lead employees towards a common goal to meet the departmental objectives.
