    Overview

    The Scale Operator is responsible for directing inbound trucks to satisfy customer commitments and for scaling/ticketing these trucks when they leave our site. 

     

    The Scale Operator works in a fast paced environment and must be accurate and detail oriented. This individual must be an excellent team player and utilize their strong organization and communication skills to coordinate trucks, work with dispatch and ensure deliveries are “On-Time, In-Full, Hassle Free”. Hours of Operation from 6:00am - 6:00pm.  

     

    The employee will be tasked with the day to day office duties, ensuring the efficiency and accuracy of all tasks assigned.

    Responsibilities

    Ticketing 

    • Scale trucks when required prior to loading for tare purposes
    • Scale trucks when loaded
      • Ensuring proper information is entered
        • Truck information
        • Customer/quote information
        • Product
        • Weights

    Dumpsite Tracking 

    • Entering dump tickets correctly
    • Track on fill tally sheet

    Cash Sales

    • Ensure all Cash Sales transactions are processed correctly and in a timely manner
    • Track on COD Reconciliation spreadsheet

    Office Duties 

    • Faxing of various tracking sheets to customers when required
    • Sort interoffice mail
    • Manage safe work days board
    • Call neighbours when blasting
    • Manage Field Level Risk Assessments and Contractor hours
    • Ensure coffee orders placed
    • Barge Displacements are tracked and emailed
    • Help with any other requests as required

     

    Dimensions

    • Direct Report  to Customer Service & Logistics supervisor, GVA Aggregates
    • Dotted Line Report to the GVA Plant Manager
    • Works with GVA Operations and Commercial Manager
    • Works with GVA Plant Managers and Sales/Dispatch Group

    Qualifications

     

    Technical Qualifications:

    • Must be computer literate (Microsoft Office, SAP)
    • Knowledge of products and industry terminology

    • Must be safety-oriented and exhibit safe work habits
    • Punctual and reliable; good attendance required
    • Good communication skills – verbal and listening
    • Detail-oriented
    • Team-player
    • Positive, courteous, and helpful approach

     Physical Requirements & Conditions:

    • Willing to work overtime, evenings and weekends as needed

     

    Education and Work Experience:

    • Grade 12 or equivalent

     

    Pre-employment medical including drug & alcohol testing and a criminal record check may be required.
