    Overview

    This is a full time contract role with strong ability to go permanent. We are looking for payroll accountants who can join our team right away. 

    Responsibilities

    • General Accounting
    • Assist Supervisor with daily accounting activities such as:
      • Prepare corporate accruals and true-up these accruals to reflect actual results as required
      • Prepare account reconciliations and clear reconciling items (Payroll and other balance sheet accounts)
      • Prepare journal entries related to payroll accounting and related acrruals
      • Reconcile Payroll accounts in coordination with H2R Payroll team
      • Provide/recommend adjustments required for payroll reconciliation pruposes
      • Coordinate with H2R Payroll team on disbursements/ Payments they record vs. what is recorded in SAP
      • Coordinate/ provide resolution to payroll information mismatch
      • Respond to inquiries related to Payroll accounting
      • Assist in the preparation of tax schedules as required
      • Prepare and review journal entries
      • Prepare external audit schedules
      • Preparation of income tax schedules
      • Execute some JDE month-end process required from NABS- Payroll accrual reversal and other adjustments
      • Assist supervisor on ad hoc requirements
    • Provide support for International/ Cross Border charge outs to intercompany
    • Develop a detailed understanding of Lafarge Holcim accounting policies (IFRS standards)
    • Ensure compliance with Accounting Principles and North American Business Services standards
    • Recognize and communicate potential issues/risks with team
    • Willingly accept new tasks and responsibilities outside defined scope of work
    • Support the preparation of year-end financial statements
    • Work on special projects as assigned
    • Adherence to Internal Control Systems (ICS) is a critical success factor.
    • Service and Cost Management
      • It is imperative to provide strong customer service to the customer base for Record to Report
      • Assist with meeting service baseline requirements for area of control
      • Monitor performance on Service Level Agreements on an on-going basis and work to improve performance
      • Execute Month End Processing steps according to the established closing calendar
      • Provide accurate, timely, and relevant cost information to business unit stakeholders
      • Work to achieve overall Record to Report and North American Business Services goals by operating effectively in a team environment.

     

    Ongoing responsibilities

     

    • Continuously improve operations
      • Identify and suggest process and system enhancements for continuous improvement measures within own team and for raising similar opportunities across end-to-end Accounting process
      • Assist the team in continuously monitoring Key Performance Indicators and Service Level Agreements
      • Perform at a level that assists in attaining overall and team-level performance measures and goals
    • Interface with other Shared Service teams to ensure compliance with cross-team accountabilities
    • Coordinate with other Shared Service teams to deliver seamless service to customers

    Qualifications

    Education:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent experience
    • Accounting designation or enrollment in accounting accreditation program

    Experience:

    • 3+ years of accounting / bookkeeping experience in a related industry
    • Strong Payroll Accounting experience preferred in an ERP environment
    • Experience with SAP, JDE or other ERP system an asset
    • Manufacturing industry or shared services experience an asset
    • Working knowledge and use of office productivity tools (MS Office Excel, Powerpoint, Gmail, Google, etc.)
    • Strong excel skills are mandatory (able to handle large volume of transactions)
