    Overview

    This position reports directly to the Production Coordinator at our Bath Plant Cement facility. All duties are performed in a work-safe manner; plant safety rules are followed and individual works as a team member. The individual functioning in this position will be proficient in all aspects of cement manufacturing and will continue their progression by working in the capacity of Control Room Operator.

    Responsibilities

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

     

    • Understand and comply with Environmental Health & Safety (EHS policies to assure that environmental, health and safety are the first priority of the business.
    • Actively support key safety initiatives at the facility and assist the department as needed to improve EHS performance and results.
    • Understands and performs safety responsibilities such as hazard identification, equipment lock-out, emergency response, etc.
    • Control and monitor the equipment run to ensure consistent plant utilization
    • Perform regular checks of all equipment operating trends to ensure safe and optimal operating conditions.
    • Responsible for consistent material flow to produce clinker and cement.
    • Assist field Operators in diagnosing operational deficiencies using instrument indications and identifying root cause of equipment defects using instrument indications.
    • Troubleshoot process problems and identify opportunities for improvement and optimization.
    • Perform moderate adjustments and repairs to area equipment as necessary.
    • Maintains superior housekeeping standards throughout the plant process and control room areas.
    • Ensure effective communication with operations, maintenance and management staff.
    • Maintain proper documentation including operator log, maintenance records, safety & environment reports, etc.
    • Ongoing performance improvement including job progression, site-specific training, process training, etc
    • Must have current CRO certification, be actively working towards CRO certification, or prior experience as a control room operator.  
    • Must be willing participate in CRO certification training program.  
    • Must be able to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment. 
    • Able to work weekends and shift work. 
    • Demonstrated ability to work safely and follow all safety and housekeeping guidelines and policies. 
    • Willingness and desire to continually improve skills necessary through on-the-job experience and formal training if required. 
    • Demonstrated communication skills and the ability to function in a team environment. 
    • The selected candidate must be willing to spend time in the field to maintain production technician knowledge.

    Qualifications

    Education and Work Experience:

    • Relevant Technical College degree or diploma (Examples: Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Civil) will be required.
    • One year minimum experience working in an industrial plant.
    • Willingness to work various shifts

     

    Knowledge and Skills:

    • Must pass a pre-employment aptitude test, scoring at least in the 75th percentile or higher
    • Must be willing to learn operating parameters of equipment.
    • Good communication skills.
    • Willingness to pursue additional training to prepare for future advancement.
