    Overview

     The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for inventory stock control, order, requisitioning, receiving, maintaining good housekeeping and a safe working environment in compliance with all regulations at Texada Quarry.

     

    Responsibilities

    Health and Safety:  

    • Ensuring proper equipment is available and maintained for jobs including all PPE
    • Maintaining site safety kits ie. Spill kits, first aid kits, eye washes, etc
    • Adhere to Lafarge and regulatory safety policies
    • Compliance with first aid and fire safety protocols
    • Compliance with all BC Ferries, DOT and WHMIS regulations in handling, packaging and transportation of all materials
    • Ensuring safe working conditions in all warehouse areas

    Financial Management: 

    • Source out best product at lowest price – attempt to get same price from preferred vendors
    • Support local management in controlling costs
    • Return obsolete parts to vendors for credit or find customers to purchase

    Operations Management

    • Interact with direct managers to develop best practices and processes to ensure continuous smooth running of operation at best costs
    • Ensure all components for a given job are assembled and available before equipment is taken out of service

    Environment, Land & Community Relations: 

    • Encourage compliance with recycling protocols
    • Insist upon proper handling of all hazardous materials including disposal
    • Ensure all regulations for the handling and storage of hazardous materials are met at all times by all personnel
    • Represent the company in the best possible light at all times to the public

    People Management:

    • Lead by example with emphasis on safety and respect for company assets
    • Works closely on a daily bases with the entire Management team on all purchases and inventory control
    • Support the hourly employees on needs of all part inquiries

    Dimensions: 

    • Warehouses, cold storage, outdoor storage, hose room

     

    Specific  Accountabilities:

    • Safety: Near Miss process, MVA’s, FA’s, MI’s, LTI’s
    • P2P/EM: PO Requistioner, PO Receiver, Part Labeling,  Distribution and Dispersal of all material entering and leaving warehouse
    • PCard Purchasing directed to work orders or shop supplies for other managers
    • Stock Control
    • Parts Inquiry and Supplier Contact
    • Weekly Coverall Cleaning/Shipping
    • Shipping Control
    • Hose Room Support
    • Environmental Recycling
    • Maintain Spill Kit, First Aid and Fire Safety Maintenance
    • Inventory control, especially return of obsolete stock for credit
    • Comply with all WHMIS regulations
    • Physical Inventory counts of high turnover consumables on a regular basis

    Qualifications

    Education: 

    • Grade 12 Diploma
    • A minimum of two years experience working in warehouse/inventory/purchasing
    • Able to attain a Warehouse Industrial Tradesman Certification 

    Experience and Skill Set:

    • Proficiency with various computer applications is a definite asset
    • Good Written & Verbal Communications
    • Good time management, self-directed, can attend to a broad range of activities
    • Excellent problem solving skills
    • Strong communication and negotiation skills
    • Good knowledge of stationary and mobile mine equipment
    • Ability to foster and grow a strong safety culture
