    Working with other Payroll Analysts, each Analyst is responsible for managing the payroll cycle and ensuring employees are paid accurately and on-time. Payroll Analysts are expected to remain current on any legislative changes for their respective Country and for ensuring all exception processing, balancing, and audit routines are followed per department guidelines.


    • Balancing of pay and time card entries and processing all payrolls for a country including the timely submission of payrolls to the bank
    • Ensure compliance with all legislative updates Resolve any errors on the payroll prior to the posting to the GL
    • Escalate any issues or errors with payroll vendors or integrations to Senior Payroll Analysts
    • Complete Quarter End processing, for US payrolls
    • Complete complex calculations including gross-up calculations and exception handling
    • Investigate and handle issues relating to groups of employees including retroactive payments and balancing
    • Union database maintenance
    • Assist with payroll training and create/update payroll documentation
    • Complete audit requests as required
    • Identify, implement and document process improvements
    • Participate in special projects as required
    • Support Year End processes to ensure integrity of Tax Filings and participate or lead Year End where required
    • Assist with testing on payroll system changes
    • Ensure compliance with internal control procedures – communicating problems in operations, unwarranted deviations from established standards and violations of policy or law
    • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to safety policies in all work environments and areas



    • Accurate and timely processing of payroll and payment of employees and 3rd parties
    • Minimize missed payments, penalties or interest
    • Compliant with controls, procedures and legislation
    • Effectively troubleshoot and resolve payroll issues at branch/plant
    • Successful year end processing to ensure accuracy of tax documents and deadlines are met
    • Fully support/implement process improvement initiatives
    • Provide subject matter expert support to Pay & Benefits team members, projects and any required testing
    • Enhance the safety culture of Lafarge by adhering to safety policies, taking ownership for ensuring a safe workplace, appropriately escalating safety issues to management, and participating in safety initiatives
    • Internal controls providing reasonable assurance of effective and efficient operations, including actions to prevent and detect fraud and protect Company resources.

    Education and Work Experience:

    • Undergraduate degree preferably in business, or commerce or equivalent experience
    • 5+ years of payroll experience in a diverse organization, preferably a unionized or service center environment
    • Professional payroll certification/designation preferred or enrollment in payroll certification program
    • International Assignment experience


    Knowledge and Skill Set:

    • Excellent knowledge of  payroll and payroll Legislation; knowledge of Workday preferred
    • Excellent understanding of government legislation with regards to Employment Law and payroll
    • Experienced in SAP, JDE, or related ERP applications
    • Excellent computer skills primarily in the MS Office suite (Excel, Monarch, etc.)
    • Excellent understanding of government legislation with regards to Employment Law and payroll
    • Experience in complex payroll environment with multiple unions, legal authorities and reporting ID’s
    • Understanding of general accounting principles
    • Solid understanding of Accounts Receivable processes (billing cycle, cash applications, reconciliations)
    • Strong communication, both oral and written

    • Fosters teamwork and cooperation – Foster a sense of collaboration and work effectively across the organization to achieve goals
