    The position’s prime objectives are as follows:

    • Manage all phases of the Kelowna Terminal operation in a safe, efficient, reliable, economical manner and ensure quality and environmental standards are maintained.
    • Ensure logistics requirements are met for the market area.
    • Provide leadership and support for all LafargeHolcim and/or contract employees.
    • Act as a liaison between the sales and logistics functions to analyze infrastructure requirements and make recommendations to both functions.



    • The Terminal Manager will report directly to the Coastal Operations Manager.
    • The Terminal Manager will manage the number of people required to operate the Kelowna Terminal after it is fully completed and operational. 

    Nature and Scope

    • The incumbent is responsible for the organization and supervision of terminal personnel ensuring safety, reliability and quality control in all aspects of the terminals.
    • The incumbent is responsible for the quality control of all products and shipped through the terminal.
    • The incumbent is responsible for the inventory management of all products shipped from the terminal. The incumbent must co-ordinate inventories with the sales and logistics team to ensure continuous product supply.  The incumbent must co-ordinate the incoming rail car and truck shipments from Exshaw, Richmond, Seattle, or any other shipping points and assure quick, efficient and environmentally clean unloading at the terminals.
    • The incumbent is responsible for the continued development, training of employees and practice participative management. He/she must ensure that employees continue to grow in the team environment.
    • The incumbent is responsible for the maintenance and housekeeping of the terminal, and updating the mechanical and electrical preventive maintenance programs.
    • The incumbent is responsible for the initiation of appropriation requests for improvements or modifications to the terminal that ensure economic viability for the operations and distribution of product.
    • The incumbent is responsible for the tracking and reporting of all designated KPI’s.
    • The incumbent is responsible for the purchasing of supplies, equipment and managing capital projects.

    Specific Accountabilities 

    • Co-ordinate with sales managers, logistics managers, shipping locations, and carriers to ensure adequate inventories.
    • Co-ordinate with Sales Manager and Operations Manager to recommend infrastructure requirements for future projects and market changes.
    • To operate the terminal in a safe and efficient manner. Administer all State and Federal Occupational Health and Safety programs and ensure that all Company safety standards are met.
    • To attain optimum quantity and quality of production by utilizing manpower and equipment efficiently and safely.
    • Operate the Terminal within the approved annual budgets.
    • Ensure the terminal operates within a team environment.
    • Maintain good employee relations and promote a harmonious working environment within the sales and logistics team as well as other LafargeHolcim product lines.
    • To provide training and development of staff to ensure continuity for the terminal’s operations.
    • Provide long term vision to ensure the terminal is positioned to meet long-term market requirements.
    • Work along with Federal, State and Municipal representatives to ensure the terminal is operating in accordance with all laws.
    • Ensure compliance with Federal, State and local environmental regulations and maintain a good corporate image in the community.
    • Prepare and submit terminal capital and operating budgets to the Operations Manager.
    • Management and implementation of a preventative maintenance program for the terminals.
    • Co-ordinate work for all capital projects.


    • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Finance, Construction Management, Engineering or other related fields.
    • Previous work experience in finance, construction or manufacturing related fields.
    • Safety certifications a plus.
