    To perform physical and chemical cement testing; calibrate and maintain laboratory instrumentation, conduct both chemical and physical laboratory analyses on solid and liquid materials and analyze testing data in an industrial manufacturing facility.


    • Operate laboratory and quality control equipment in a safe and efficient manner in compliance with environmental regulations and site standards.
    • Performs sample preparation, chemical and physical analyses as per applicable standards (ASTM, CSA, AASTHO).
    • Inspect, calibrates and maintain laboratory equipment on a regular basis.
    • Use LIMS, ASPEN, Microsoft Office, documents databases or other computerized management tools.
    • Review and verify that test procedures applied by process operators meet quality guidelines.
    • Prepare chemical solutions required for chemical analysis and ensure proper disposal of both chemicals and samples.
    • Work with other departments to solve quality related problems.
    • Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
    • Perform other duties as required.

    Education and Experience:

    • Demonstrated safety leadership and good housekeeping practices
    • University Degree or Technical College graduate in Chemistry
    • Minimum 3-years laboratory work experience in an industrial environment preferred
    • Strong analytical, organizational, communication and troubleshooting skills required
    • Proficient use of Word, Excel, document databases and instrument software
    • Able to work independently or with a team
    • Basic mechanical and/or electrical skills desirable
    • First Aid Certificate desirable



    Read, write and speak English with demonstrated proficiency in reporting of analytical data. Read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Write reports, business correspondence, and procedural instructions. Confidently present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the general public.


    Apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Carry out statistical analysis including frequency distribution, test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.



    Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to high level humidity in a controlled laboratory environment. When required the employee could be exposed to the various environmental conditions consistent with an industrial cement plant.
