    Overview

    The Senior Compliance Manager is responsible for overseeing and implementing the LafargeHolcim (LH) Compliance Program in North America (US & Canada) and assists the Compliance Director with executing the Global Compliance Program to North America.  This includes the implementation of Compliance Policies, including the LH Code of Business Conduct and Group corporate policies as well as applicable Federal, state, and local laws and governmental regulations that impact our industry. This is primarily achieved through a Compliance training program, country policies and procedures, monitoring compliance in both countries and proactively identifying risks for the US and Canada.  The Senior Compliance Manager also serves as a resource and advisor to Senior Management and all LH employees on compliance-related matters. The Senior Compliance Manager reports to the North American Compliance Director, who reports to the Vice-President & General Counsel – Legal & Compliance.

    Responsibilities

    • Demonstrates a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to safety policies in all work environments and areas.
    • Assists the Compliance Director with implementation of the Compliance program and monitoring compliance activities in the US and Canada.
    • Assists Group Compliance in the development and implementation of Global compliance standards, initiatives, and other risks.
    • Develops and presents appropriate compliance training programs for LH employees, including maintaining certifications or other tracking tools to document training results.
    • In addition to the Global Integrity Line, develops appropriate and confidential methods for employees to report and disclose compliance-related issues to the Compliance Department.
    • Leads periodic reviews of compliance policies and makes recommendations to the Compliance Director regarding appropriate, timely and necessary improvements or enhancements. Update and distribute all policies and procedures as necessary. 
    • Leads or assists with compliance related investigations
    • Monitors compliance with the Code of Business Conduct and other Group Directives or Policies (including Anti-bribery, Corruption, Antitrust, Conflict of Interest, Third Party Due Diligence, and other Compliance-related policies).
    • Monitor legislative, regulatory, and enforcement trends that impact LH or the construction materials industry.
    • Establish strong working relationships with functional business partners (Cement, ACM, etc.) and operating companies within LH and serve as a strategic business partner to drive compliance across the company.
    • Design, lead, and manage the process of assessing and monitoring local compliance processes and controls (Compliance Reviews) or other periodic testing to determine effectiveness of compliance with internal policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Reviews the results with Compliance Director and reports findings to senior management.
    • Develop and implement corrective action plans for resolution of problematic areas or compliance violations and provide guidance to mitigate similar situations.
    • Maintains training records and other compliance records to document corrective actions taken. Ensure statistics are maintained.    
    • Periodically review Internal Audit reports to determine impact on the compliance program. If necessary, assist business partners with development of corrective actions.
    • Special Projects - Leads and/or participates in special projects both globally and locally to address business opportunities or challenges.

    Qualifications

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

    Required Education:  Bachelor’s Degree

    Required Language: English. Fluency in French is an asset.

    Required Work Experience:  A minimum of ten years of experience in the legal or compliance field. Familiarity with the construction materials industry.

    Required Computer and Software Skills: Proficiency in Google and Microsoft office applications.

    Travel Requirements:  20% to 40%, as needed

    • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
    • Strong written, oral, and presentation skills as well as ability to effectively deal with mid and senior levels of management.
    • Demonstrates maturity in judgment and ability to conduct fair and impartial reviews into compliance-related issues.
