    As a member of the Kingston Team, the Swing Batcher will be engaged in all aspects of plant operations. The primary function of this role will be to perform the responsibilities of a concrete batcher for coverage across our Eastern Ontario market area. This role will require travel when operational support is required at other locations in the Eastern Ontario.


    The Batcher Responsibilities include:

    • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving, and adhering to safety policies in all work environments and areas. Responsible for ensuring safety guidelines are followed by employees on a daily basis. Correct safety issues immediately when possible, and offer employees coaching on safe work practices. Ensures all aspects of his/her role are executed in a safe manner. 
    • Ensure maximum productivity, minimum downtime and that the plant, property and production machinery are adequately maintained.
    • Maintain a safe workplace and ensure compliance of the Lafarge Health & Safety Policy
    • Develop and maintain good relationships with employees
    • Troubleshooting problems at plants and preventative maintenance to avoid breakdowns.
    • Review and analyze cost information (gas, power consumption, labor) to maximize plant efficiency
    • Schedule Concrete Deliveries
    • Responsible for batching concrete to top quality assurance levels, dispatch trucks and managing daily orders based on customer needs, and to support the Quality Control department with testing as needed.
    • Swing Batching supporting market area
    • Comply with Safety & Environmental Policy
    • Order raw materials and inventory management
    • Plant daily preventative & corrective maintenance, and housekeeping


    Other Responsibilities include:

    • Promote safety culture through:
      • Engagement with employees, subcontractors and suppliers.
      • Implementation and maintenance of local and regional safety initiatives with an objective of “zero” safety incidents.
      • Administer and promote safety policies, processes and review procedures to ensure that site meets or exceeds all Lafarge and Regulatory guidelines.
    • Ensure that plant and surrounding site is kept safe, presentable, and functional.
    • Perform other duties as assigned to assist in the efficient operation of the Kingston Ready Mix Plant and site.

    • Civil Engineering degree or Technologists diploma
    • 3-5 years’ experience in the trucking industry with a clean driving record
    • Minimum 1-3 years supervisory experience
