    The Internshp, Compliance Coordinator will provide effective technical and organizational support to the  Eastern Canada Environmental Management teams, as well as the various regional businesses. There are three main objectives for this position: regulatory reporting (internal and external), environmental management system (EMS) support, and special projects in support of Canadian business needs.


    Administration & Coordination

    • Coordinate and complete accurate and timely reporting requirements
    • Administer information in the company’s Information System (computer database) in accordance with standards
    • Communicate ongoing results (reporting, training, audit follow up, cost tracking, etc) and analyze trends.
    • Administer the Company’s Environmental Management System
    • Coordinate communications, conference calls and face-to-face meetings and follow up
    • Assist in use of the company financial system including placing and tracking purchase orders and related activities
    • Monitor environmental costs and contracting out costs and identify opportunities for savings
    • Pursue potential funding and award opportunities



    • Review submitted technical information for accuracy and develop & implement systems to ensure ongoing technical data reliability
    • Working with the Canadian network of Environmental Professionals, develop compliance management safeguards to ensure a robust EMS
    • Oversee the Environmental & Public Affairs intranet site
    • Act as subject matter expert for SAP integration into the E&PA Function

    Relationships with Others Jobs:

    • Work closely with regional environment personnel in optimizing management processes and timely reporting
    • Work with technical product line staff in collecting data
    • Work with Corporate Environment & Public Affairs Managers
    • Coordination with Cement plant manager and mangement team
    • Coordination with Communications on permits and associated public meetings


    Specific Accountabilities:

    • Act as a central contact (information conduit) for regional team and operations management for environment-related issues
    • Act as a resource for the various environmental disciplines
    • Coordinate environment communications and information exchange between corporate, business unit and area personnel
    • Maintain accurate records and compile periodic reporting requirements for the region
    • Ensure department records and files are kept organized and up-to-date
    • Ensure adequate follow up is provided to achieve successful completion of projects and tasks


    Education and Work Experience:

    • Pursuing an Undergraduate degree in one of the Engineering disciplines.
    • 0-2 years related experience


    Knowledge and Skills:

    • Strong computer skills, specifically database management and proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access
    • Excellent organizational and communication skills
    • Proven ability to balance priorities
    • Ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization
    • Experience in preparing technical applications and reports
    • Experience in managing funding and recognition applications
