    The Operations Analyst is responsible for recurring financial statement reporting, market and customer research, analysis, and interpretation. Provides business support to the General Manager and local Operations and Plant Managers. The Operations Analyst participates in the monthly review of financial statements and annual Strategic Frameworks.  Is responsible for providing leadership to the financial team for the Calgary group.

    • Guides monthly safety meetings for financial team.


    Key Responsibilities

    • Ensure a safe workplace.
    • Review sales and cost allocations on a regular basis to ensure accurate reporting of financial statements for multiple product lines: aggregates, Pipe and Precast Operations, and ready-mix operations.
    • Develop and monitoring of sales budgets and forecasts for volumes, selling prices and costs.
    • Responsible for recurring monthly reporting and metrics tracking.
    • Develop Internal Reports for Managers and operations as needed.
    • Assist with development of Business Unit business strategies.
    • Audit sales systems for data integrity.
    • Annual Strategic Framework reports.
    • Compiling market data from permit reports.
    • Keep track of sales fee’s and discounts from rural municipalities, subcontractor crushing, and customers.
    • Aid in extra-mile initiatives.





    • Frequent interface with Operations Managers, Financial Team, Customer Value Center and IT personnel.
    • Provides information to Finance Managers.
    • Work with Finance Managers in closing the month end cycles of the operations (items such as analysis, JE’s, coding changes, etc)
    • Provides supervision to Inventory Accountant, Administrative Assistant (sales coordinator / accounts payable), Administrator / Bill (accounts receivable), Office Assistant (receptionist / pay administrator).


    Education & Work Experience:

    • CPA (CMA, CA, or CGA) designation required or in progress strongly preferred.
    • Bachelors degree in business or related fields preferred.
    • 5 – 7 years Industry experience

    Knowledge & Skills:

    • Understanding and knowledge of financial statements.
    • Experienced in strategic, financial and market analysis.
    • Developing and delivering presentations.
    • Comfortable operating in a matrix role.

    Job-Specific Competency Profile:

    • Excellent analytical skills.
    • Strong project management ability and ability to work with minimal supervision.
    • Excellent understanding of financial statements.
    • Good interpersonal skills, and strong “process consulting” abilities.
    • Good presentation skills  (PowerPoint and oral presentations).
    • Able to perform in dynamic environment, handling multiple tasks concurrently.
    • Strong self-initiator.
    • Strong computer skills  (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, SAP, General Ledger Reporter (GLR), Cognos, Kronos).
