    The Maintenance Technician is responsible for safely installing and maintaining machinery and supporting structures according to manufacturer’s specifications at the Woodstock Plant. The Incumbent will have a strong understanding of the Lafarge commitment to Health and Safety. In addition, the Maintenance Technician will be responsible for Preventative Maintenance and Continuous Improvements on equipment and repairs on all production/facility related equipment.


    • Promote safety culture through engagement with employees, JHSC and subcontractors with an objective of “zero” safety incidents.
    • Demonstrate good housekeeping practices at all times to help maintain a safe work area
    • Handle, transport, and process product and materials using equipment
    • Operate and inspect material handling equipment (such as overhead & mobile cranes); light mobile equipment (such as forklifts, pickup trucks)
    • Operate mechanical equipment (i.e. pipe threader, cut off saw) and inspect hand-held equipment (such as torches, oxygen lances, pneumatic/power actuated tools and hand tools)
    • Clearly communicate completed tasks by means of producing a daily log (verbal / written/ computerized)
    • Read and interpret blueprints/drawings, produce rough sketches (abbreviations, symbols for machining/welding/assembly, tolerances)
    • Set up and perform alignments on equipment;
    • Trouble shoot and repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems, compressors, pumps and turbines
    • Perform Preventive Maintenance activities as assigned on all equipment and machines throughout the plant and yards in conjunction with daily production requirements
    • Maintain contact and communication with Supervisor and co-workers in order to ensure and report progress.


    • Preference will be given to individuals with an Industrial Mechanic Millwright Certificate of Qualification (433A)
    • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in an industrial environment, preferably in a slag/grinding manufacturing environment.
    • Must possess good welding skills properly utilize various welding and cutting equipment.
    • Basic computer skills, ability to use SAP.
    • Strong communicator (both oral & written).
    • Highly motivated with ability to work with minimal supervision.
    • Demonstrated commitment to achieving organizational and personal goals.
    • Well organized and systematic.
