Create and coordinate work plans that match finish product demands with maintenance activities, inbound raw & finished materials, and manufacturing efforts.  The Plant Coordinator will keep budget constraints, employee scheduling, customer deadlines and service, and product quality requirements as key elements of the coordination effort.  The Plant Coordinator will be a leader in safety and be seen as a driver for safety improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Workforce & work stream planning
  • Maintain and integrate to-do lists from multiple subjects (safety, mill reliability, waterfront crane needs, blending requirements, etc.) resulting in alignment of facility wide efforts.
  • Create and publish 80% weekly plans for all plant activities (mills, shipping, maintenance, non-traditional efforts, ship off-loading, dock activity, etc.)
  • Maintaining 40% monthly plans (same list)
  • Maintain the 28-day product planning sheet
  • Plan, coordinate & oversee in bound ship operations. Ensure details of lightering plans and dock schedules are established in a timely manner and well communicated to all impacted parties. Creating, reporting on, and driving training plans for all employees consistent with the anticipated workforce demands
  • Ensure the critical functions of the Production Analyst role are accomplished.
  • Coordinate incoming information streams and the redistribution to appropriate parties.
  • Participate in the daily and weekly meetings.
  • Work closely with the Maintenance, non-traditional business, and production supervisors in scheduling of plant activities
  • Participate in process optimization and benchmarking.
  • Resolves daily issues relating to cement production and work with in-plant and out of plant departments to resolve issues which can impact shipments or product quality.
  • Review and streamline work methods (schedules, SOP’s, implement Best Practices) in order to minimize cost & improve efficiencies.
  • Participates in development and implementation of safety rules and procedures. Assists the Maintenance, Production, and Non-traditional business Supervisors in resolving crew safety issues.
  • Exhibit and exercise Visible Felt Leadership (VFL) in the field on a daily basis.
  • Provides relief for the Operations Manager as required.

Qualifications

Education: 

  • Diploma or Degree in Engineering or related subject.
  • OR- 5 year work experience in related fields

 Experience and Skill Set:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in cement or similar process in a supervisory role
  • Good knowledge of production management and planning.
  • Good working knowledge of cement manufacturing.
  • Good working knowledge of ship operations
  • In-depth knowledge of production requirements and capabilities.
  • Good knowledge of all applicable environment and safety laws and regulations.
  • Good knowledge of product quality parameters and of quality control test.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Good organization skills
