The position will act, on an as needed basis, as a back-up supervisor for any of the field supervisors in the plant.  When not acting as a field supervisor, the primary objective of this position is to enable front line supervisor’s maximum time in the field and to enable crew efficiency.  To accomplish this, the relief supervisor will work to ensure all parts, rental equipment and services under $10K are in the plant as needed.  The position must have a close relationship with the LH regional purchasing functions. This role will assist with all ‘back end’ corrections and reconciliations associated with bulk shipping.  The position reports to the Plant Coordinator and will have a supporting role with the coordination efforts as well.



  • Ensures compliance with safety practices and procedures and availability of safety equipment.
  • Ensures stores facilities & equipment are maintained in good working order & ensure the safety & efficiency of the work environment.
  • Reports accidents/incidents assuring follow up. 
  • Must maintain a level of familiarity with each operating group sufficient enough to fill in as a supervisor
  • Assists field supervisor by arranging for all parts, services and supplies less than $10K needed to accomplish the upcoming tasks.
  • Acts as a daily liaison between regional procurement group and the facility.
  • Seek out solutions for regular distractions that can hold field supervisors in the office.
  • Develops & establishes processes and procedures to reduce costs and waste, while increasing productivity
  • Motivates, organizes and encourages teamwork within the workforce to ensure that employees perform their jobs safely and productivity targets are met or exceeded through proper delegation of jobs, participation, recognition, follow up of suggestions, and fair and equitable treatment of all employees.
  • Maintains a close working relationship with the Plant's vendor base and carriers in an ethical manner at all times.
  • Oversees and takes ownership for all consumable supply vending machines including optimizing stocks, regularly review consumption and ensuring proper payments processes.
  • Maintains a tracking system for all rental equipment onsite and strive to minimize rental periods while maximizing the flexibility of rental options.
  • Track and organizes routine service for plant’s mobile equipment.



  • The Relief Supervisor reports directly to the Plant Coordinator.  Role will require both independent contribution as well as team involvement. 
  • High level of interaction with local vendors
  • High level of interaction and collaboration with plant operational and maintenance stakeholders.
  • High level of interaction and collaboration with regional purchasing team.
  • Occasional direct supervision of union employee.


Experience and Skill Set:


  • Minimum of 2 years supervisory experience in a unionized workplace.
  • High comfort levels navigating SAP
  • Advanced computer and analytical skills (MS Programs).
  • Good knowledge of the Seattle manufacturing/shipping process and non-traditional business.
  • Motivated with the ability to handle a high workload in a fast-paced and challenging environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead by influence both within and outside of the individual’s direct scope of responsibility, to achieve overall business objectives
  • Resourceful, diplomatic, and customer service oriented individual with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills
  • Results oriented and willing to stay with an issue until it is fully resolved
  • Willing to embrace changes
  • Proven capability to be very well organized, and to manage time and priorities in a way that results in minimal backlog.
  • Comfortable juggling multi efforts and priorities with the ability to advance several efforts in parallel.
